Bus Driver Training Registration and Forms

In order to be eligible to take the Bus Driver Training class, you MUST pre-register for the class.
 
THE NEXT TRAINING HAS BEEN SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 18TH, 19TH, & 20TH AT NORTHERN GRANVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL. UPON ARRIVAL, PLEASE CHECK INTO THE FRONT OFFICE.  CLASS TIMES WILL BE 8:30 - 3:00 EACH DAY.  

 
You must complete the online Bus Driver Training Registration form and the Employee Authorization and Release Form on this page by the Registration Deadline.  The Employee Authorization and Release Form must be submitted to the Granville County Public Schools Bus Garage by the Registration Deadline.
BUS DRIVER TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
1. Complete registration process by going to Granville County's webpage. (www.gcs.k12.nc.us)
2. Complete three days of bus classes/Pass all written tests.
3. Within the 90 day period, go by the bus garage to get required paperwork to have drug screening done and obtain a DOT physical.
4. Upon completion of DOT physical and drug test go to any DMV and obtain a NC Learner's Permit ($68.00) Class B with P & S endorsements. Hold permit for 14 days.. Once 14 days have passed and favorable drug screening results are back, you will receive a call to do training on a bus. (3 days)
6.On the day of training bring NC Learners Permit, NC Drivers License, Proof of DOT Physical, & the 14 page book given in class.
7.On day three of training you will be tested on Pre-trip inspection, Skills Test (Backing) and a road test.
8. Once all 3 tests are passed you have 90 days to obtain a CDL B License with P & S endorsements.
9. After you obtain your CDL License you must pick up your School Bus Pocket Card from the bus garage.
10. The CDL License, Pocket Card, and DOT Medical card should be carried at all times when you are driving a school bus or activity bus.
