The Granville County Public Schools Board of Education will hold two public hearings on October 21, 2024, in the gymnasium at Granville Central High School, 2043 Sanders Rd, Stem, NC:
1) 6:00 pm- A public hearing on the proposed Closure of Granville Central High School and the Reassignment of Those Students to South Granville High School and JF Webb High School;
2) Immediately following the 6:00 pm public hearing- A public hearing on the Proposed Closing of Butner Stem Middle School and The Relocation of Those Students and the Relocation of the GC Hawley Middle School and Their Students to the Old Granville Central High School Campus.
Members of the public may sign up to speak in person beginning at 5:00 pm on October 21, 2024. There will be two separate public comment sign-up sheets, one for each hearing. Public comments will not be commingled between the two hearings: public comments pertaining to hearing number one will only be made during that hearing, and public comments pertaining to hearing number two will only be made during that hearing. Each individual will be allowed up to 3 minutes to address the Board. The Board will not respond to public comments. During the public comment period, the Board Chair will recognize speakers in the order in which they signed in. Substitute speakers will not be permitted, and speakers may not donate any portion of their time to another speaker. If a speaker is unable to present all of his or her information within the specified time limit, the speaker may provide the board with the additional information in written form. Comments made using the link must be submitted between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on October 21, 2024. A copy will be distributed to the Board of Education members.
