Aubrey Lee Brooks Scholarship
Description
Established in 1955 by a Trust endowed by the late Aubrey Lee Brooks, these scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors from a 14-county area of North Carolina. The North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority provides central administration for the Brooks Foundation.
Eligibility
- Be a graduating NC HS senior and permanent resident of Alamance, Bertie, Caswell, Durham, Forsyth, Granville, Guilford, Orange, Person, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Swain or Warren county
- Plan to enroll for the first time as a full-time degree-seeking student at N.C. State University, UNC-Chapel Hill, or UNC-Greensboro
- Demonstrate financial need as determined by the application process; have Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Expected Family Contribution (EFC) that does not exceed the maximum permitted by the Program
Application Requirements
- Complete and submit a full electronic Aubrey Lee Brooks Scholarship application HERE
- Submit an electronic copy of academic transcript that has final grades for most recent Fall semester
- Submit an electronic copy of SAT and/or ACT score sheet(s)
- Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the appropriate school year
Other Information
Of the 17 scholarships, one is awarded to a student from the areas of Greensboro and High Point and to a senior at the N.C. School of Science and Mathematics who is from an eligible county. Additional criteria include merit, leadership, character, and the desire of the recipient to prepare for a career as a useful and informed citizen.
Brooks Scholars may receive additional funding for summer internships, research or travel abroad, and a one-time computer stipend of $2,500. The scholarship is renewable, provided the recipient has continued financial need, remains enrolled full-time at an eligible institution, maintains a 2.75 cumulative grade point average and good citizenship.
Couch Oil Co. Scholarship (Local)
For the ninth year, Couch Oil Company of Durham is offering the Couch Oil Cares Scholarship to high school seniors. This is a $1000 scholarship.

FBC Academy Scholarships
The First Baptist Church Academy (FBCA) began in 2001 as an opportunity for First Baptist Church Creedmoor to assist educating young children in southern Granville County and the surrounding area. In 2019 FBC Academy wanted to make a further investment in graduating seniors who seek to impact our local community and created the FBCA Impact Scholarship.
Below is information and instructions on how to apply for the FBCA Impact Scholarship:
● The 2021-22 FBCA Impact Scholarship will award a $500 scholarship to three graduating seniors attending a high school in Granville County.
● The application cover sheet and scholarship requirements (outlined below) should be submitted by March 9, 2022

Granville Health Systems Foundation Scholarship (LOCAL)
The Granville Health Systems (GCS) Foundation Scholarship is made in honor of Sam Perry, a physician's assistant (PA) whose specialized medical care earned his deep respect from both patients and peers throughout his career.
The scholarship in the amount of $1000,00 will be awarded to a Granville County resident who has been accepted into a two or four year allied health programs at an accredited school and who intends to pursue a career in the allied health care field.

NCSECU Scholarship
The North Carolina State Employee Credit Union (NCSECU) Foundation established the People Helping People four-year scholarship program to help North Carolina public high school students attend college. Each of the 115 North Carolina Local Education Agencies (LEAs)/School Districts will receive a minimum of one scholarship valued at $10,000 payable at $1,250 for up to eight consecutive semesters for a senior to attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina System.

NC Farm Bureau Robert Flake Shaw Scholarship
In his honor, North Carolina Farm Bureau awards the R. Flake Shaw Scholarship to students pursuing higher education in an agricultural-related discipline.
Since 1967, we have awarded more than $3,000,000 in scholarships to youth pursuing a future in the agriculture industry. We believe assisting our industry’s future leaders in obtaining higher education is an investment in the future and is an integral part of fulfilling NC Farm Bureau’s mission.
The R. Flake Shaw Scholarship program awards:

Eight individual, university level scholarships granted for a four-year period at $4,500 per year ($18,000 total per student)

Four individual, community college scholarships granted for a two-year period at $1,000 per year ($2,000 total per student)

SeniorCare.com Aging Matters Scholarship
SeniorCare.com continues to bring more awareness to the key issues we face as an aging population. For the 9th consecutive year, we will be awarding an annual college scholarship to an individual that best demonstrates to us why "Aging Matters" to them. A $1500 scholarship will be given annually to a selected college student that currently cares for an aging loved one, works within the senior community, or intends to pursue a career that will have an impact on the elder population. Any existing student (or incoming freshman), in good academic standing, at a 2 or 4 year accredited college can apply for this scholarship. The recipient will demonstrate a unique and admirable understanding and desire to show us that "Aging Matters" to them.

Our Mission: To provide direct input into the deliberations and developments of energy policies, regulations, emerging technologies, and environmental issues.

Selection Criteria
- Unweighted academic average of B or better (3.0 on 4.0 scale)

- Pursuing a major in business, one of the physical sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics field
- Underrepresented minority (African Americans, Hispanic or Native Americans)

Triangle North Healthcare Foundation 2022 High School Scholarship Program
Triangle North Healthcare Foundation (TNHF) has established a scholarship program to help high school students in the TNHF region attend college. Each high school in the TNHF region, which includes Franklin, Granville, Vance, and Warren counties, can nominate/select one student for the TNHF scholarship. From the pool of applicants provided by the high schools, the TNHF Scholarship Committee will select one individual from each county to receive a $10,000 scholarship.
Preference will be given to students who plan to major in a health-related field, and whose educational goals align with the mission vision of the Foundation. Scholarship applications must be submitted to the school counselors by March 11, 2022.
Student Qualifications
· Applicant must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.5.
· Preference will be given to applicants planning to pursue a career in a health-related field, whose education goals align with the vision/mission of TNHF.
· Applicant must be a resident of Franklin, Granville, Vance, or Warren Counties.
· Applicant must be accepted into an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. (Does not have to be an NC school.)
· Applicant must provide a copy of college acceptance letter.
Review Process
· Each high school in the TNHF region will nominate and submit one student application for the TNHF Scholarship by April 8, 2022. School counselors may submit application packets by email at info@tnhfoundation.org or by postal mail, addressed to TNHF Scholarship Program, P.O. Box 2377, Henderson, NC 27536.
· TNHF Scholarship Committee will select one applicant from each county (from the pool provided by the schools) to receive the scholarship.
· Selected scholarship recipients will be notified by TNHF in May.
Payment and Reporting
· Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the college/university business office.
· Scholarship funds will be administered in two $5000 payments.
· Scholarship may be used for tuition, room, board, and books.
· To receive the second payment of $5,000, recipient must provide a transcript at the end of the first semester.
· Recipient must be in good standing, according to college/university guidelines, at the end of their first semester.

Thad Stem Scholarship (Granville Ed Foundation)
The Granville Education Foundation is excited to announce a new scholarship opportunity for Granville County Public High School students. The Thad Stem Scholarship will be given annually to a graduating senior from a Granville County high school with an interest in the arts and who demonstrates financial need. Preference will be given to students demonstrating an interest in literary arts.
This scholarship was established to honor Mr. Thaddeus Stem Jr., poet, writer, and newspaper columnist from Oxford. He was widely known for his wit and talents in a variety of literary fields. The Thad Stem Scholarship is an endowed fund, it lives in perpetuity, making permanent funding available to award the scholarship. The Granville Education Foundation will serve as the beneficiary of this endowment and will administer the Thad Stem Scholarship with the annual distribution.

Wake Electric Scholarship
Wake Electric scholarships available for 2023
The Wake Electric Scholarship Program kicks-off December 1, 2022. Wake Electric is offering two scholarships for college students: the coveted Fred M. Alford Memorial Scholarship for $2,000 and sixteen Touchstone Energy Scholarships for $1,250.
All applications will be under consideration for one of the two scholarship categories. Students only need to submit one application to be considered for both scholarship programs.
The $2,000 Fred M. Alford Memorial scholarship will be awarded to the top candidate selected by an independent judging panel. Requirements for this scholarship include the following criteria:
- Must be a child of or under legal guardianship of a Wake Electric member or live in a home served by Wake Electric
- Must be a high school graduating senior (cannot already be attending college)
- Must pursue a regular full-time four-year undergraduate course leading to a baccalaureate degree
- Must pursue a four-year undergraduate baccalaureate degree at an accredited institution in North Carolina.
Sixteen(16) Touchstone Energy Scholarships for $1,250 will also be awarded. These scholarships are not limited to recent high school graduates, and may be used at one of the state's community colleges, vocational or technical schools, as well as at a four-year college. The requirements for these scholarships are:
- Must be a child of or under legal guardianship of a Wake Electric member or live in a home served by Wake Electric
- Must use these funds at a North Carolina college or university, community college, vocational or technical school for full-time enrollment
- Applicants can be a high school graduating senior or already enrolled full-time in a university, community college, vocational, or technical school

Wake Electric Webb Technology Scholarship
As a leader in advanced technologies, Wake Electric established the Webb Technology Contest to provide an opportunity for local high school students to discover and explore technologies that are transforming our world while applying for an opportunity to receive a $1,500 scholarship.
To apply, students must fill out an application and write an essay based on the prompt located online here. The final day to submit your application and essay is May 1, 2023.
