NOW HIRING AND TRAINING BUS DRIVERS

BUS DRIVER TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Complete registration process by going to Granville County's webpage. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  2. Complete three days of bus classes/Pass all written tests.

  3. Within the 90 day period, go by the bus garage to get required paperwork to have drug screening done and obtain a DOT physical.

  4. Upon completion of DOT physical and drug test go to any DMV and obtain a NC Learner's Permit ($68.00) Class B with P & S endorsements. Hold permit for 14 days.. Once 14 days have passed and favorable drug screening results are back, you will receive a call to do training on a bus. (4 days)

6.On the day of training bring NC Learners Permit, NC Drivers License, Proof of DOT Physical, & the 14 page book given in class.

7.On day four of training you will be tested on Pre-trip inspection, Skills Test (Backing) and a road test.

8. Once all 3 tests are passed you have 90 days to obtain a CDL B License with P & S endorsements.

9. After you obtain your CDL License you must notify the bus garage.

10. The CDL License and DOT Medical card should be carried at all times when you are driving a school bus or activity bus.

HERE COMES THE BUS

Here Comes The Bus uses global positioning system (GPS) technology to locate and track your child's school bus.  It is powered by software from Synovia Solutions and uses data uploaded every evening from our TIMS Department.  If your student has been assigned to the bus, you can download the free app to your phone and get notifications when the bus is near to your residence or to the school your student attends. You will need your student's Powerschool ID number and the school code 82346.  You can get started by clicking on the following link:
