The General Assemblyhas enacted the Health Youth Act of 2009. This legislation requires that each school district provide areproductive health and safety education program.  Granville County Schools is committed to providing studentsin grades 7-9 an effective curriculum to cover the required elements of thelaw.

 The components include: 

• Abstinence until marriage education.  This has been the curriculum since1996. 
• Sexually transmitted diseases
  
• FDA-approved contraceptive methods 
• Sexual abuse, sexual assault, and risk education

Your child will take part in thenew Healthy Youth Act Curriculum when he/she takes the health portion ofP.E.  A letter will be sent homewith every child prior to the date of starting Health class explaining thedetails of the Curriculum and the parents right to withdraw their child fromany component of this course.
